The José Díaz Experimental Theater is celebrating its fifth anniversary. To mark the occasion, José Díaz has written five short plays that will be staged at the Touchstone Theatre on September 25 and 26 at 7:00 p.m. The program opens with a performance serving as an allegory for the number five, followed by: “La cita” (The Appointment), a meeting between a psychiatric counselor and a former model who demands more from life; “La historia de Mesalina Mejorvida” (The Story of Mesalina Mejorvida), about a young woman preparing to emigrate who talks with her aunt and grandmother—women who faced a difficult path when they were immigrants themselves; “Martirio o la mujer padecimiento” (Martirio, or the Woman of Suffering), a soliloquy in which a woman recounts her life, pain, traumas, and achievements while at her ironing board, ultimately declaring—against all odds—that she has found happiness; “Sor Locaida,” featuring a nun grappling with an existential crisis regarding the Catholic Church—she has been diagnosed as insane, a claim she refutes with arguments that will surprise the audience; and “El testamento de Rosario Salomé Guadalupe Rocafuerte…” (The Testament of Rosario Salomé Guadalupe Rocafuerte…), a soliloquy in which the widow of a powerful man demands to read his will on national television, causing a stir with shocking confessions that catch those present off guard.

El Teatro Experimental José Díaz está celebrando su quinto aniversario. Por tal razón, José Díaz ha escrito 5 piezas cortas que subirán a escena en el Teatro Touchstone el 25 y 26 de septiembre a las 7 de la noche. El programa incluye una presentación que es una alegoría al número 5, a la cual seguirá: “La cita”, un encuentro entre una psiquiatra consejera y una exmodelo que le pide y exige más a la vida. “La historia de Mesalina Mejorvida” es la de una muchacha que decide emigrar y que, en los preparativos de su viaje, conversa con su tía y su abuela, quienes anduvieron por caminos difíciles cuando fueron emigrantes. “Martirio o la mujer padecimiento” es un soliloquio de una mujer que narra su vida, sus dolores, traumas y logros frente a la mesa de aplanchar, donde al final afirma, contra todo pronóstico, que ha logrado conseguir la felicidad. “Sor Locaida”, una monja con un problema existencial entre ella y la Iglesia católica. Ella ha sido diagnosticada con locura, lo que la monja niega con fundamentos que sorprenderán al público. “El testamento de Rosario Salomé Guadalupe Rocafuerte..” Un soliloquio en el que la viuda de un hombre poderoso exige leer su testamento en una cadena de televisión nacional, lo que causa revuelo por las confesiones que hace y que sorprenden a los presentes.
