What happens when a lawyer defending a woman serving a long sentence for bank robbery is more concerned with the convicted woman’s money than with getting her out? Bellavista Prison exposes the problems and internal corruption in a women’s prison where business, crime, sexual harassment, and assault are the order of the day. The prison, which defines itself as a correctional and rehabilitation system, is anything but. Everything is dark, everything is a business, and the fate of the inmates is unclear to anyone.

The play is in Spanish but there will be a synopsis available in English.

¿Qué sucede cuando un abogado que defiende a una mujer que cumple una larga condena por robo a un banco está más preocupado por el dinero de la condenada que por sacarla en libertad? La Prisión Bellavista expone los problemas y la corrupción interna en una prisión de mujeres donde los negocios, el crimen, el acoso sexual y las agresiones están a la orden del día. La prisión, que se define a sí misma como un sistema correccional y de rehabilitación, es todo lo contrario. Todo es oscuro, todo es un negocio y el destino de los reclusos no está claro para nadie.
