A Theatrical Homage to the Women Who Made Us

A passionate, playful, unflinching portrayal of the first — and most enduring — bond of our lives. Mother’s Day is both a memoir of one mother, and an homage to ALL mothers. Veering from sentimental to skeptical, from harrowing to hilarious, Mother’s Day celebrates the women who made us. It is especially dedicated to those mothers who are no longer with us, except in our memories and our dreams.

Created by Susan Chase, a past Touchstone Ensemble Member, whose previous Touchstone productions include Prometheus Redux (2019) and Ulysses Dreams (2013). Can’t make it to the March 20th performance? You can see Mother’s Day as part of the United Solo Festival in NYC in April!

[Image description: A woman stands in the middle of the image, her arms outstretched. She looks past us, to something off to our left, he mouth open in the middle of speech. She wears a brown top that matches the color of her hair, and  features various decorative plants and flowers that appear to be stitched on. Behind her, filling the rest of the frame, is a projection of a painting. It features a mother nursing her newborn child. Wrapped around them both is pink blanket with a sort of leaf-shaped pattern on it. We cannot see the top of the woman’s head, but it is clear she is smiling down on her bundle of joy.]
