The commencement of our year-long programming centered around Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig. Free copies of the book will be distributed as we share sneak peeks of our upcoming community engagement activities both before and after the performance of DESCENT.

In partnership with the Bethlehem Area Public Library, local artists, and accessibility-centric groups, Touchstone is mounting year-round programming focused on the acclaimed autobiography by Rebekah Taussig. Taussig’s book – a keen observation of disability, family, feminism, housing, intersectionality, and more – will provide direction and focus for numerous community engagement activities such as guided conversations, creative writing workshops, pop-up performances, panel discussions, and more!

[Image description: The cover for “SITTING PRETTY: THE VIEW FROM MY ORDINARY RESILIENT DISABLED BODY” by Rebekah Taussig, repeated 6 times, forming a sort of collage. They are one a slant so we never quite get to see the full image. But each one is the same – a bright orange background with white and black text. A picture of Rebekah sitting in her wheelchair, a yellow shirt, some sparkles, and other details appearing to have been drawn onto her. Her hand stretching out, resting in between the words “FROM MY” and “ORDINARY”. In between each cover are bright yellow lines that match her shirt.]
